Subject: Tom Jans
In answer to all the inquiries about Tom Jans, I am sorry to say that
Tom died a bunch of years ago now. I was lucky
enough know him and work on two of his solo
albums in the '70's. As a matter of fact, a close examination of his
albums will reveal the precursor to Texas Twister. I had written
the guitar lick for Texas Twister back in the
'70s and when we were recording on the songs
on Tom's record, Jeff Porcaro and I were jamming on that guitar lick and
Tom liked it so , we stuck an instrumental Jam with David Lindley
and myself and the rest of the studio band in
the middle of one of Tom's songs. Our sound man from long ago, Craig Schertz, found this record and used to play it
before our shows. I don't remember the song
but I bet some one can find it.
This song may be "where did all my good friends go".
