Tom's banjo

At school as a senior, Tom focused on English Literature, and graduated from Willow Glen High School in 1965.

By this time Tom was playing guitar piano and banjo. He used guitar and piano for his recordings but early memories are of him playing a banjo. He was a huge fan of the Kingston Trio in the 60s, and began his interest in music by writing and singing in the folk song genre. At home in San Jose he would sing the folk songs popular at the time.

Tom's banjo is a "Conqueror". This may not be a particularly high quality instrument. The fret markers and tuners are very typical of an entry level banjo.
